A new series: ‘Building Britain’s Biggest Nuclear Power Station‘ showing on BBC2 this month offers a fascinating view of the challenges presented by such a huge project. EDF Energy is behind the venture – you can read more here.
Our involvement is obviously tiny on the grand scale of things, but we are proud to be the suppliers I of the thousands of square metres of green Standard Mesh GRP Grating that can be seen throughout the site. It’s been used to create non-slip walkways, protecting engineers from slips, trips and falls as as they navigate the assorted surfaces that exist in different areas. GRP was chosen because it’s as strong as metal equivalents but easier to cut and move around, and it’s coloured to clearly mark the ‘safe’ zones and fastest exits. It’s also non-corrosive and non-sparking. In Episode One you can see teams moving panels into position and cutting through them to gain access to what lies beneath
You can watch the show yourself for a limited time on BBC iPlayer here but we grabbed a few screen shots in case you missed it!
